Biography


Dr. Leonardo Moraes is a wholehearted family person and hard-working professional who decided to change and contribute to others' change through education. As a man born and raised in a very modest family in a small town in Rio de Janeiro state - Brazil, he learned from his parents' experiences that the best way to achieve success coming from a challenging situation is getting high education. 

He possesses a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Petroleum and Gas, and M.Sc. and D.Sc. degrees in Computational Modelling. All degrees were earned from the Rio de Janeiro State University, an institution he has a deep sense of gratitude.

Currently, Dr. Moraes is a LEGACY postdoctoral scholar at The Ohio State University hosted within the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Before that, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Rio de Janeiro State University sponsored by the FAPERJ Nota 10 program.

Dr. Moraes' research is focused on the development of mathematical and computational tools to model the interactions of sub-atomic particles. His interest in this area includes developing and applying efficient methods to the solution of classical and nonclassical transport equations and developing computer programs that assist decision-making in problems involving radiation transport through matter.
